Permanent Makeup FAQ

What is Permanent Make-Up?
The technique is simple and revolutionary. Permanent makeup, also known as Micropigmentation or cosmetic tattoo, consists of implanting natural pigments (vegetable and mineral extracts) under the superficial layers of the skin, between the dermis and the epidermis by means of a small, sterile, micro-needle, to create a lasting cosmetic effect, an illusion or enhancement where hair or color is missing (as in eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner and color . These hypo-allergenic pigments are specifically designed for facial application, and contain no added fragrances or emollients.

What are the hygiene conditions?
You can be assured that a high quality of hygiene is strictly adhered to. Sanitary surroundings, disposable sterile needles and surgical gloves are used for each procedure. The quality products are a must.

Which part can we apply pigments?
Lip liner or full lip coloring, eyebrows, eyeliners, areolas, birthmark and scars.

How long does it last?
It could last up to 5 years. However, it varies according to your skin type, the treated area, and the color chosen. The darker the color, the longer it lasts. Immediately after the treatment, the color appears dark; within 4 to 10 days after the procedure, the color gets between 10 to 20 % lighter. Ultra-violate exposure from sun or tanning booths, various drugs, excessively dry skin, and smoking are all factors that may affect the color. It is essential that a sun block be applied over the permanent make-up area at any time that you are exposed to the sun or a tanning bed to prolong the effective life of these procedures.

Is there any discomfort?
Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area and minimize discomfort. Most people describe a mild, gentle, plucking sensation to not feeling at all. The results and years of looking great more than justify the slight discomfort of the short treatment. Every client has thought it well worth the effort.

How do I know I have chosen the best permanent makeup artist?
Art is a talent with which one is born, not a craft for which one trains. The result of a procedure will be as good as the artist you choose. Check his / her training, certifications, experience, liability insurance, and most of all, before and after pictures. Ask for references from previous clients. Remember: cheaper doesn't mean better. If the price is too low, maybe the technician is inexperienced or didn't get the proper training. Many people have inadequate training who are performing these services.

Are there risks?
Your greatest risk in cosmetic tattooing is having an untrained individual perform this procedure. Disadvantages of having a layperson place your tattoo abound. If they use contaminated needles, infections can be transmitted. As all hygiene conditions are met, there is absolutely no risk.

Is It Expensive?
Fees vary from $200 to $800, depending on what kind of work has to be performed.
